WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO THE CHILDREN IN YOUR LIVES!!!

Many of you know my sister Megan is a fairly new mom.  This Halloween she and Kevin made a terrible mistake that any new parent NEEDS to be aware of.  Megan loves the holiday's and the traditions that go along with them.  They wanted Tripp's first Halloween to be super special so they let him play with the pumpkin guts.

Things were going just fine....at first

He is a bit hesitant, the seeds feel slimy and gooey.

As usual he is super serious about this project.

He gets his snap on hands all sticky and gross.

Of course he tells Megan all about this new experience....then things start to go South. The seeds look SOOO good he has to taste them!

After this the pumpkin gets even....

IT EATS HIM! Tripp was a bit nervous at first, but it turns out pumpkins are super cool.  After his BIG adventure he sure is a sleepy boy

As usual Meg and Kev have the BEST ideas....and a super cute subject.

Heed! Down! NOW!

I love his great big round head and his huge eyes!  I pretty much just love EVERYTHING about this kid!

I drool over this child!

Tripp is teething. That means everything goes in his mouth and he is covered in drool all the time. Here are a few pictures.

He looks like he got caught about to do something he shouldn't be doing.

Then he realized he can do no wrong.

Look at the death grip he has on Meg's finger.

Look how ravenous he looks!  It kind of looks like he has a little vain popping out of his head.

Mila's Daydreams

I came across Mila's Daydreams by accident and fell in love with what this new mother who is on maternity leave has created!

Just kickin' it

LOVE LOVE LOVE this child.  Tripp is such a big boy.  He has been holding his head up from the time he was born so we knew he would be in his bebo pretty soon.  I love the smirk on his face.

King of the Monsters!

Kevin did a photo shoot of the cutest little monster you have EVER seen!

I have such a hard time deciding which is my favorite picture.  If I had to decide it would be the last one where he is surrounded by all the the monsters. I seriously laugh at it every time I look at it!  That smile melts me every time.

It's not perfect...yet

So I am sure that many of you (my 7 followers) have noticed that the name of my craft blog has changed a few times.  I just can't find a name I like.  I think I found it though.  "sonny & lulu"  I think it's cute, but who know's what will i will think of next week or tomorrow...or in the next 10 minutes.  It's a pretty cute blog and I have lots of fun ideas and projects.  You should check it out!

Amazing...

Teen accidentally shot in leg at gun show Sunday morning

A teen was accidentally shot in the leg when a handgun discharged at the Metcalf Gun Show at the state fairgrounds Sunday morning. The victim, whose name was not released, is the teen son of a gun show vendor.

He was shot once in the leg about 11:45 a.m., Oklahoma City police Sgt. Charles Phillips said.
The teen's father produced a personally-owned weapon for sale, but a bullet was still in the chamber when it was handed to a potential buyer, Phillips said.

He said two off-duty Oklahoma City police officers were at the doors making sure guns are unloaded and properly marked, but they do not check guns held or being sold by vendors.  Guns that are on sale should be "strapped and tagged," or set not to fire for safety purposes during the show, but there is no law requiring it, Phillips said.

Police are considering the shooting to be accidental, and no arrests are expected.

I am kind of in love with this story. I personally believe it is a right to own a gun and if treated with respect and handled correctly, guns are safe.  I believe if you own a gun and have children it should be locked up. I don't think you should keep the gun a secret from your children, but teach them gun safety and that guns are not toys.  I absolutely love that the person who was shot was the gun vendors son because HE FORGOT to unload the gun.  Seriously?

Sunday's harvest

Our garden is over flowing with juicy red tomatoes. Below are a few pictures...try not to drool on your keyboard.

I LOVE SUMMER!

Check out my blog SALT to find out what yummy things I made with the tomatoes!

May the force be with you...

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away lived an interior decorator.  He went about the universe creating furniture that was both stylish and functional. The force is strong with him and as his Jedi Master would say, "Creative is he."

Behold Jedi Steve's creation....

In the picture below you will notice how he documents the age old battle between good and evil.

Seriously this is AMAZING!  I was at Habitat for Humanity and I found this jewel. The writing is GLOW IN THE DARK..I am in awe.

Priceless

I am so in love with this child! Kevin takes and sends weekly photos of Tripp.  In these he is 22 days old. Already he has such a personality!

Look at that smile! It's amazing how that little face tells you so much.  He is secure, he is loved and he knows it.

When I see this I hear Trip saying "That's a SPICY MEATBALL!"  Meg hears, "I am this close to being full mom...this close".  She is probably right!

I'm "Glad" he's my dad

So I love Gladiolas. I am not sure why, but they capture a part of me other flowers can't.  Believe it or not I haven't made a huge deal about Gladiolas.  Whenever I have received flowers from my dad (and it's been pretty frequent) I usually get roses or daises.  I am happy to receive them whatever the occasion.  Apparently he was listening when I said how much I love Gladiolas because when he was at Lowe's getting supplies for his garden he picked up some Gladiola bulbs and proceeded to plant them in a "secret" place. So imagine my surprise when he took me over to the flower bed and there were Gladiola buds about to erupt.  I love how he thought of me and how beautiful they are.  Next year he plans on planting tons more because they turned out so wonderful this year.  I love my Dad and will always remember the Daddy Daughter Dates and the flowers he grew for me.

Bubbly Toes

Trouble (what I am going to start calling Tripp) enjoys a little bubble time with his mom. Kevin is such an artist!
Bubbles taste funny.

Belly button shot

Are you sure about this mom?

He is not quite sure what to make of this bubble situation

Are you kidding me? (my favorite)

I am seeking help...I promise!

OK so you all know how I like order in my life and stuff...well it has followed me to my "blog life" also.  Because I am such an important person and have so much going on BLAH, BLAH, vomit, Clear Throat...
I have created a blog just for my crafting. Yeah if you are keeping up that makes 4.

i carry it in my heart--the life and times of me and my family

Taming the Beast-- my story of recovery  (due to the sensitivity of this blog an invite is required)

Book of Mormon Stories-- My 100 Day Challenge to read the Book of Mormon and other Church goodies

AND MY LAST AND FINAL BLOG (my fingers are crossed)

Salt-- anything crafty I can get my hands on and yummy food I make.

I could probably tie this all into one blog, but were would the stress in that be?  Also not everyone who reads this cares about my crafts or how spiritually amazing I am.  So keep your judgements to yourself please, most of you have families to take care of.  I don't, blogging is my family. Blogging is my husband.  Blogging is my child.  OK super dramatic, but whatever.  I am just happy to be able to create and to get such inspiration from people all over.  Check back now and then, I have so many projects I am working on.

Nesting was my first post on Sel.

TROUBLE

At 15 days old Tripp ROLLED OVER and then just propped himself  up on his little tummy trying to see what what the world has to offer.  WOW!  Megan has no idea what lays in store for her with this sweet little trouble maker.  I can't wait... I have so much to teach him!

My Roger

Last year I was outside working in the garden when I found a baby bird.  He had fallen from the HUGE tree outside my house.  I felt sorry for the poor little creature so I went about making him a nest.

First I got a basket and after about 30 minutes of trying to build a nest I came up with this

I still had to try and talk the little bird into the nest...by talking I mean I used a pair of tongs to carefully place him in the basket.  See I wasn't about to touch the thing even with gloves. My cold dead heart can only do so much.  Sneaky little guy was trying to hide from me.

If you look closely you can see the metal tongs I grabbed him with.

OK so you don't have to look that hard to see the tongs.  I feel that this little bird loved his home and that I was going to be the BEST bird caregiver ever (with the help of Ben because feeding it grossed me out) but my father felt differently. He went on a very comedic rant about how "it's just going to die soon," "It's mother left him" "I had no knowledge of raising a bird" and so on.  He even made a comment about how I'd get all attached and because I'd give it a name like Roger and be upset when it died.  So that is how the little guy got his name.  Roger was around for a few more hours and I realized what tough work raising a baby bird would be (mainly because I had no idea how) so we placed him back in the tree away from predators.  I like to believe he flew away somewhere and became the most wonderful father.  For the first few weeks after "he left" I would ask my dad whenever he said the prayer to say a special little prayer for Roger.  My days of rescuing birds or any animals are over.  They keep dying and it's just not fun.

SHAKING THINGS UP A BIT...

So I decided to change the name of my blog...I wasn't a big fan of  E to the R to the IN to begin with so I found something I like more. The title is a line from one of my favorite poems by E.E. Cummings. You can find it below.

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

I hope the change isn't too confusing.

Sweet little monster

The theme for Tripp's nursery is "Monsters/Where the Wild Things Are" they have collected so many cute little stuffed monsters...the one in the middle is my favorite.

What a big yawn for such a little man!

I for one was worried that Meg and Kev's dog Hero would be super jealous of Tripp.  I'm OK being wrong about this...
